Alligator hats, a deluxe edition and David Hayter are all on display, with more details about Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater right here.

A year is a long time to wait for something as hotly anticipated as Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. It’s been 13 months since it was first announced, though we were treated with a gameplay reveal teaser back in October. Either way, Naked Snake is taking his sweet old time crawling through the Tselinoyarsk shrubbery to arrive on our systems.

Never fear however, for the origin story of Big Boss turned up right in the middle of an excellent Xbox Game Showcase. From the iconic opening on the plane of the Virtuous Mission, to CQC-ing the daylights out of the Ocelot Unit, the new trailer shows plenty of action. The graphics and CGI cutscenes are finally making good on all of those gorgeous Pachinko machine visuals we’ve seen over the years.

More than that, the gameplay looks to have been completely overhauled, looking much more akin to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. MGSV mechanics with the classic story of MGS3? It sounds like we’re still in a dream (Snake Eater). If you’d like to see more of Konami’s upcoming remake (of course you do), the trailer is just here.

That not enough to satiate your appetite for snakes and frogs? We got you covered. The second instalment of the Metal Gear Solid Legacy Series, featuring none other than David Hayter himself, has also been posted. The video touches on key features such as the new damage system that leaves battle scars on Snake as players progress through the game. Just imagine all of those bolts from The Fear…

A new style control and camera layout also offer intuitive controls for players accustomed to modern third-person action games. However, you can revert back to the Legacy Style overhead view too. While there was some work to do with rebuilding the relationship with the MGS fanbase, Konami seem to be moving in all the right directions so far.

Lastly, you can find details for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater’s newly announced Deluxe and Day-One editions right here as well:

For EMEA markets, a limited Day One Edition was made available to pre-order, containing the full game plus additional downloadable content that will be revealed later. The Deluxe Edition also unveiled contains a Day One Edition game copy, an exclusive Steelbook®, additional downloadable contents, a metal and enamel keychain, a FOX Unit iron-on patch and art cards laid out in a custom clamshell box. In addition, a Collector’s Pack will be made available in EMEA markets, differing from the Americas’ Limited Collector’s Edition, with full details to be announced at a later date.

Despairingly, we still have no official date confirmation nor release window for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater as yet. Let’s keep our Tsuchinokos crossed that Snake’s iconic halo jump will be sailing onto our screens sooner rather than later. Oh, and did we mention there’s a further showcase fully dedicated to Delta happening tomorrow? We have now. We hope you’re as excited as we are.
