And, me hearties, it's a beaut!

Mimimi Games made the Commandos successors – Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun and Desperados III – it’s fair to say in real-time stealth strategy circles, they’re a big deal. So when they suddenly announced not only a new game in their signature style, but one filled with fantastical supernatural pirates, I mean, I felt giddy as a sailor. Just take a look at that trailer for ‘Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew‘ – cinematic yes, but goddamn does it give a flavour of what this game’s about!

In Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew, you will join a ghost ship with a living soul, sailing the Lost Caribbean, and assemble a cursed pirate crew. Embrace supernatural powers to defy the menacing army of the Inquisition, who stands between you and the mysterious treasure of the legendary Captain Mordechai.

And if a cinematic flavour isn’t enough, how about 6 minutes of glorious top-down stealth gameplay to wet yer whistle.

Mimimi are getting ambitious with this title. Gone are the set missions and structures of their previous titles and new this time is a more sandbox feel – sail from island to island with your ship the Red Marley as the hub and tackle the game’s areas in any order. The fantasy elements mean supernatural stealth abilities, and even time manipulation – signature features quicksave and quickload have been worked into the narrative itself. Uncover the stories of your weird and wonderful crew, how they got their insane abilities, and then use them to orchestrate perfectly timed triple takedowns! A proper stealth title with fantasy powers is always welcome – one with a fish buddy to distract guards, a guard cannon, and teleporting pirates, well, it’s shot to the very top of my wishlist!

Sadly there’s no news yet of a release date, but the devs say it’s only months away! Argh!

Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew is coming to SteamEpic Games StoreXbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 in 2023.
