Get ready for a thrilling and long overdue new chapter in the SHINOBI saga. Finally, SEGA has officially announced the return of the legendary franchise with SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance, a 2D action platformer. Set in a beautifully illustrated world brought to life in collaboration with Lizardcube, the studio behind Streets of Rage 4 (which was my game of the year in 2020).

The game follows the iconic ninja hero, Joe Musashi, who returns to find his village destroyed and his clan turned to stone. Joe of course decides to embark on a mission facing off against hordes of enemies and formidable bosses. WHAT’S NOT TO LOVE!?

In SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance, gamers get to master a variety of weapons and abilities, including the legendary Katana Oborozuki and Kunai, as well as powerful Ninjutsu arts. Unlock devastating combos, discover Amulets to enhance your abilities, and uncover hidden paths with Ningi tools. Of course, it goes without saying that our boy Joe will be traversing his way over a dozen visually stunning stages, from military bases to desert landscapes, while tackling challenging platforming puzzles.

There are a few pre-oder bonuses for those that are that way inclined starting with a 10% discount, the Original Arcade Outfit, and the Fortune Hunter Amulet for fans who lock in their copy early. Then of course there is the Digital Deluxe Edition which gives you early access to the game, the Digital Deluxe Season Pass, and exclusive content, including the SEGA Villains Stage, coming in 2026.
