The Fleshpound is on the hunt again, prepare to face waves of Zeds to save humanity once more in Killing Floor 3.

Fresh out of what was otherwise an underwhelming showing at Opening Night Live, Tripwire Interactive provided one of the highlights with the announcement of Killing Floor 3. The zombie Zed slaying first-person shooter returns, fifteen years on from the release of the first and seven years after the sequel. Tripwire certainly take their time, but the shooter carnage tends to be worth the wait.

While it was mainly a cinematic trailer with little detail at this stage, the iconic look of the Fleshpound was definitely shiny. The beast hasn’t lost any of its intimidating lustre, that’s for sure. You can check out the announcement trailer for yourself, and bask in the Unreal Engine 5 pixels:

While details about the game are understandably sparse right now, the team have given us an ever-so-slight bit of insight into what we can expect from the latest entry:

Killing Floor 3 is the next installment in the legendary co-op action/horror FPS series. The year is 2091, 70 years after the events in Killing Floor 2, and megacorp Horzine has produced the ultimate army: an obedient horde of bio-engineered monstrosities called Zeds. Now, the only thing standing between these infernal creations and the future of humanity is the rebel rogue group known as Nightfall. This intense first-person shooter puts players in the role of a Nightfall specialist, joining forces with up to five teammates as they battle through a war-ravaged, dystopian future, surviving unrelenting waves of Zeds, unlocking new skills, and building the ultimate arsenal.

No release date or window provided as of yet, so presumably Killing Floor 3 is still a ways off from hitting our screens. The game will be launching on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), though. In any case, we can sleep soundly knowing that the Zed army is fast approaching, ready to meet the mettle of our assault rifles and shotguns.
