Ghostrunner 2 is set one year after Jack’s tower ascending survival quest in the original. The titular cyber ninja has re-emerged, neon sword firmly in hand. Having desperately escaped Dharma Tower and ready to explore the wasteland that lies beyond, it’s time for fast-paced, relentless and brutally challenging gameplay.
Only this time, you can do it riding a motorcycle. Just like Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator 2, you’re going to need the clothes, the boots and the motorcycle. Or, you know, a wild brain-implanted power or three.
New powers, upgrades, vehicular combat, expanded narrative and a host of new enemy types lie in wait. Given the 2020 original’s penchant for brutal but incredibly rewarding challenge, it’ll be exciting to find out more of how the sequel will play and build on the superb predecessor’s foundation. Ghostrunner 2 will also host another souped-up synthwave soundtrack. Given the first soundtrack still gets replayed to death almost as much as we did in the original game, that’s a rather enticing prospect.
Ghostrunner 2 will be releasing on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X and Steam sometime later in 2023. If you can’t wait till then, why not boot up the original to slice some cyber fools, show off your neon sword and bask in the synth soundwaves? Oh, and lock-on to these stunning screenshots below.
