Snakebyte Switch 2 Accessories Review – A Charming Collection

‘It’s here! It’s here! It’s finally here’!

You could probably hear me wailing on Thursday morning when my Switch 2 landed in my Argos carrier bag. I walked out of there like I stole it, with fierce protection and eyeing up every other person in the store like they were about to jump me. Fortunately, nobody did because it was 8am and everyone was super tired.

‘Now I can check out those Snakebyte accessories we were sent!’ I also said to myself, considering reviewing the below choices of fun stuff apparently more important than setting up this thing and jumping into Mario Kart World. Well, when you’re a writer these things tend to happen.

Still! Snakebyte were incredibly kind and sent us the first batch of their Switch 2 accessory line-up for reviewing purposes, and you can see my thoughts below on each of the products. Some are essential, others are simply a USB-C cable. Have you ever had to review a USB cable before? This was my first time, I think I aced it.

If you’re after some cool gear for your gorgeous new Switch 2, look no further! Have a nose below.

Joy-Con 2 Twin Charger

If there was a Glastonbury setlist of accessories sent to us by Snakebyte, this would be the headliner. I was on the lookout for a new way to charge the Switch 2 Joy-Con’s and I was delighted that a charger for that exact purpose was included in this package. The unit itself is small, and comes with a cable to connect to the Switch 2 via USB. The two charging ports didn’t feel magnetic to me but held the left and right Joy-Cons well, even if they never felt like they were in there as securely as I would have liked previously. Still, the chargers job is to put power into the Joy-Con’s and that’s exactly what it does. It looks cool and has a simple LED light under each charge port to let you know what’s happening. Red if it’s charging, green if it’s done. It’s all so gloriously easy.

Starter Kit

The starter features a case – one of three we were sent to review -, headphones, a screen cloth, a tempered glass screen protector and silicone grips and analogue caps for the Joy-Con 2’s. As a full time user of the system I tend not to dabble in grips and whatnot for the analogue sticks and simply get used to what I’ve been provided with my rather expensive console, ergo for review purposes I gave them a go, cus I’m such a dedicated review guy you see.

Yeah, they’re not for me. My best friend has these weird silicone condom grips around his PS5 DualSense’s and it’s the bane of my existence whenever I go to to his house that I have to use them, so I won’t be putting them on my shiny new Joy-Con 2’s. If you’re the kind that would want to though then they’re robust, don’t get in the way of the buttons on the Joy-Con and fit nice in the hand. The caps for the analogue sticks are also sturdy and fit comfortably.

What I would use is a case and you’ll see shortly that we’ve had three to work through since we’ve got a Switch 2, which if you can imagine a grown man taking the Switch 2 out of one case and then putting it into another, and then repeating this process several times then you’ll imagine the kind of weekend I had.

The case included with the starter kit though is pretty straightforward, with plenty of room for cables and game card pouches. It has a nice Snakebyte logo in the corner too which doesn’t immediately give away what’s inside. I like that. I hate those cases that have massive Switch 2 logo’s all over them. I might as well just hand it to a thief on the train at that point.

System Organiser Case

Off for the long haul? This may be your solution. The System Orgniser case is quite the beast which not only holds your Switch 2, but also the Charging Dock, power cables, Pro Controllers and a big selection of game cards. It’s pretty much the only choice that can house everything if you want to be moving your entire Switch 2 set up to a different place and holds everything in tightly, with a water repellent finish and adjustable shoulder straps.

Oh and the lid doubles as a carry case for the Switch 2, so if you need to go even further but don’t need to carry everything, boom! This is a brilliant choice and by far one of the best overall cases I’ve used not just for Switch 2 but for most consoles. Sturdy as heckins and again, most importantly, doesn’t give away what’s inside, so your precious Switch 2 will stay secure just that little bit more. Marvellous stuff.

Travel Case

Similar to the case included in the Starter Kit, this case otherwise has a funky outer design and stands out far more. It holds the Switch 2, a few games and some cables and also looks like what you would have created in art at school when you were given free reign with the ink trays. A solid case.

Fast charging USB-C Cable

I mean, this one is fairly simple. Snakebyte provided us with a USB-C cable, 2m long to charge things. I plugged it into the Switch 2 and used it to charge my Pro Controller and lo and behold it did exactly that. Pretty solid as far as a charging cable goes…yep.

Power Adaptor

Need to charge your Switch 2 into a different country plug socket? Snakebyte have you covered. Does the job. Win!

Use this with the USB cable above to connect to your Switch and you can plug in abroad with ease. Good stuffs.

So that’s a look at a selection of Switch 2 accessories that are available for your new system. Our thanks to Snakebyte for providing us with these to take a look at and check out! We’re hoping to review more very soon as they have a second phase of accessories coming soon. We’ll keep you updated if we’re fortunate enough to get that collection to review also.
