Psychological horror puzzler Decarnation gets a release window with a brand new trailer! Here's everything we know:

After four years of development, France-based developer Atelier QDB finally unveiled a launch trailer at Future Games Show. Decarnation is a psychological horror adventure with a focus on narrative. You’ll play as Gloria, a cabaret singer whose just about ready to quit after everything she’s loved is torn away from her. This is until an opportunity seemingly to restore hope turns into an unimaginable nightmare.

You’ll be solving psychological puzzles, executing minigames whilst wading through an environment that blurs the line between fantasy and reality. Confronting demonic realities both metaphorical and physical to fight and find the light with 15 types of gameplay. Rhythm enounters, stealth sections, puzzles and more fill the monstrous world that Gloria has to survive in.

Exploring multiplex themes of self-esteem, relationships, career and the complications of life, Decarnation looks to illicit a response to all players in this grim tale. The expertly crafted pixel art style is complimented by a soundtrack from Fleur bleu·e. that look to bring a distinct synthy dread. The devlopers have cited Satoshi Kon’s Perfect Blue and David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive as an inspiration to this twisted survival horror and by the trailer you can certainly see it.

Thankfully, you won’t be waitng much longer for the release of Decarnation as its releasing in May 2023 on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. We’re just through March at this point but 2023 is shaping up to be the year of horror experiences, and Decarnation looks to be another shining example of such a claim.

The game will be available with English, French, German, Polish, Spanish, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese language support.
