Square Enix’s hotly anticipated Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has had another trailer drop ahead of the game’s launch. Titled ‘Destined For Rebirth’, the trailer shows off enemies new to the series as well as characters and locales reimagined from the original 1997 classic. You can watch the trailer here:

Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, Barret and some other familiar yet unseen faces are back fighting against the ultimate enemy, Sephiroth. Whilst a new rendition of the battle theme swells, we catch glimpses of the Nibelheim Incident, the Junon ceremony as well as reimagined boss battles, including the boss from Terror of the Deep. Here’s more from the press release:

Voted “Most Anticipated” Game of 2024 at The Game Awards, FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH is the new story in the critically acclaimed FINAL FANTASY VII remake project. This standalone adventure set across a vast and vibrant planet sees Cloud, Tifa, Barret, Aerith and Red XIII escape from the dystopian city of Midgar into the wide world beyond. To hunt down Sephiroth, a haunting figure from Cloud’s past bent on ruling the planet, these unlikely heroes join forces with new companions like the spirited ninja operative Yuffie and the wisecracking, feline-shaped robot Cait Sith. Lead these characters into battle to overcome their fates. Explore classic locales reimagined in dazzling detail. Encounter dozens of hours of rewarding side quests, fiend hunts, mini-games and rich stories of the planet’s people and cultures.

Whilst Rebirth is described as a standalone adventure in the Final Fantasy VII remake project, it does follow the events of 2020’s Final Fantasy VII Remake. Events differ from the original, so if you haven’t played it, you’ve probably got just enough time to do so. Previews of the Rebirth are out there, as well as our very own review of Final Fantasy VII remake, which you can check out here.

We here at Finger Guns are looking forward to checking it out when Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Releases 29th February 2024 for PlayStation 5.
