15 Indie Games To Be Excited About During March 2025

As we emerge from the other side of countless demos from Steam Next Fest, which Miles covered as extensively as possible, we are once again humbled by the sheer amount of indie games releasing. March is an absolute doozy of a month; with games some of us on the team have been eagerly anticipating for year(s), follow-ups from legendary developers and welcome surprises that look to be a smash.

Last month we got to cover the heartfelt slice-of-life, Afterlife EP, the console release of the hilarious Tiny Terry’s Turbo Trip as well as the tower-defencing Trolls vs Vikings: Reborn, to name a few. Fingers crossed we’ll get some review coverage for this upcoming list of indie games, but I’ve got to warn you, you’re probably going to want to play everything here. Here are 15 indie games to be excited about during March 2025.

Knights in Tight Spaces by Ground Shatter – 4th March 2025

The follow-up to a Finger Guns favourite, Knights in Tight Spaces takes the cool and brain-teasing card-based brawler of the original and goes Army of Darkness with it. Whilst I can’t guarantee that there will or won’t be Deadites fighting knights in tight spaces, I can say that the game is pushing the limits of its formula whilst pulling you back into medieval times. This time around the game sees you utilising a party system, as well as the tried and true deckbuilding mechanic to create synergies that’ll send outlaws and supernatural enemies packing.

You will master your surroundings by using the environment as your weapon, alongside performing team-up moves that showcase the game’s cinematic animations. With 300 cards to collect, an electronic soundtrack to keep the fights thumping and stylish hand drawn visuals that look the old time-y part, Knights in Tight Spaces might just need a knighting, preferably in a tight space. The game will release on PC.

Everhood 2 by Chris Nordgren and Jordi Roca – 4th March 2025

Whilst there have been some stylistic comparisons to Undertale, Everhood, and now Everhood 2 have shown that they’re their own psychedelic trip. With your voice missing, a raven deems you worthy to recover it as long as you defeat the Mind Dragon. That’s about as much as I can glean from the plot, but for Everhood 2 it’s all about the combat encounters.

Not your traditional style of combat, Everhood 2 pits you on a fretboard to dash across and fight bosses (and enemies) to the beat of over 100 songs. With trippy lo-fi visuals, a 10-12 hour journey to get lost in and even a battle editor for the PC release, Everhood 2 looks to be a bigger odyssey than its original. Everhood 2 will release on Nintendo Switch and PC.

Grimoire Groves by Stardust – 4th March 2025

Grimoire Groves answers the question of what if Adventure Time was really pink and full of witches? The titular Grimoire Groves was once a forest that was a haven for witches. However, upon arrival, all the magical creatures and plants that were once thriving have disappeared. With your bewitching magic, a bit of hard work and a little investigating you’ll be able to restore Grimoire Groves to its former glory.

The game is a cozy rougelite dungeon crawler that sees you mixing and matching spells on your adventures, mastering your abilities as a witch. You’ll also be foraging plants and repopulating the forest to your design, and when you’ve got a minute from dungeon crawling, you’ll also be uncovering the mystery of the almighty Rainbow Socks. Grimoire Groves will release on Nintendo Switch and PC.

Sorry We’re Closed by à la mode games – 6th March 2025

Has this made it onto a list before? Yep. Does the console release bring with it a fancy new image to make my thumbnail cool? Also yes. I may have a palpable bias for Sorry We’re Closed due to the fact it oozes style in every facet, but this is also one of the more important survival horror indies to come out in a while. I’m glad the game is making its way to consoles because it’s ode to PSX-era horror, which makes it the perfect place to experience it. You follow Michelle’s final days as she fights to break a curse placed on her by a love-seeking demon.

Because you’re so close to hell (not talking about London, though it is set there) you’ll be able to utilise your Third Eye ability to attack demon-enemy weak points with your underworld weapon and travel through both planes seamlessly. With fixed camera angles, resource management and engaging puzzles Sorry We’re Closed ticks all the boxes of the genre with style. The game is out now on PC and will release on PlayStation 5 & 4, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.

Beyond the Ice Palace 2 by STORYBIRD Studio – 10th March 2025

Beyond the Ice Palace 2 is unapologetically a love letter to Castlevania and a resurrection/sequel of the Commodore 64 classic. Arise from the abyss of death to reclaim your rightful place on the throne as the Cursed King. Wielding the chains that imprisoned you, they’re now your weapons of vengeance as you eviscorate your foes.

They’re also the perfect instruments of platforming as you attach to rings and propel across chasms in cool 2D Metroidvania action. With secrets, abilities and power-ups hidden across the chambers, you’ll be a powerful king once more as you harness your playstyle. Beyond the Ice Palace 2 will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Wanderstop by Ivy Road – 11th March 2025

From one of the developers that brought you The Stanley Parable, comes an unexpected but welcome change of pace with Wanderstop. On the surface, Wanderstop is a narrative-centric tea shop management game. But as the ritual of making tea from scratch settles, the game’s themes of burnout and dealing with change take form.

Learn customers’ stories as you make the perfect tea for them, decorate your shop to your style or… do absolutely nothing. It’s a game that rewards patience and living in the moment, rather than exceeding in any type of goal – a challenge for the game’s protagonist who once was a champion fighter. Featuring music from C418 and development talent from games like Gone Home and Tacoma, Wanderstop looks to be almost anyone’s cup of tea. Wanderstop will release on PS5 and PC.

Metal Bringer by ALPHAWING Inc. – 12th March 2025

Isometric mech action meets roguelike with Metal Bringet. Plays as humanoids, ‘Labor’ and ‘Arms’ as you uncover the mysteries of the world – very vague. However, less vague is the young girl named Suria who’s been in cryosleep for 1,000 years on the search for humanity with her two humanoid creations. With Labor being the on-foot fast-paced brawler and Arms a hulking mech, both are creatively customisable to your playstyle.

The gameplay looks muso inspired with hordes of enemies on the battlefield to fight in either style. Moreover, you’ll look for app disks which can help upgrade your abilities and collect enemy parts to improve your Arms. Metal Bringer will release on PlayStation 5 and PC.

Reignbreaker by Studio Fizbin – 18th March 2025

Reignbreaker will not escape the comparison to Hades due to it being an action roguelike on top of its stylised hand drawn presentation. However, being compared to one of the greats isn’t a bad place to be. Reignbreaker is set in a dystopian medievalpunk world where you play as Clef, who’s on a mission to rid the Kingdom of its oppression.

Boasting frenetic melee combat that sees you dodging, slashing and smashing hordes of high-tech robots, you’ll be breaking through a plethora of hand-crafted levels full of traps, secrets and hidden treasures. Become the titular Reignbreaker and lay siege to the oppressive Queen’s bastion, when it releases on PC.

Cataclismo by Digital Sun – 20th March 2025

It appears Digital Sun are in the unique position of releasing two games this year, with Cataclismo being the first before their hotly anticipated Moonlighter 2. Cataclismo is an RTS that sees you creating and managing your castle grounds. You’ll have an almost endless amount of customizability for your creations as you build your castles brick-by-brick, only to then defend them from the horrors of the mist.

The Cataclismo left the world broken but with the prospect of rebuilding and learning the mechanics, maybe the hope will live on. Moreover, from the campaign, there will also be Skirmish, Endless Waves and Creative modes to make Cataclismo endlessly replayable. The game will hit its 1.0 release on PC.

The Deadly Path by Owlskip Enterprises – 25th March 2025

The Deadly Path is many things. A building management game, a roguelike real-time strategy and an appeasing-the-dark-deities-sim. You’re the custodian for the Deities of the Dread, a sadistic bunch of Gods that require your aid for ascension – or else you’re no use at all.

Gather grim materials, build your defences and expand the underworld as you collect tiles to be part of the menacing Dread Pantheon in their quest for revenge. Your devotion to the Gods will progress you through the Ages, unlocking new Gods and more powerful skills to upgrade your abilities as the underworld’s biggest micromanager. The Deadly Path will release on PC.

Grit and Valor – 1949 by Milky Tea Studios – 26th March 2025

Another roguelite to add to this month’s list, this time of the dieselpunk variety. Grit & Valor – 1949 is a real time tactics roguelite set in an alt-history World War 2. Europe is on its last stand, and the enemy forces occupy the land with their Axes Mechs. Survivors of the occupation have found each other, regrouping under the new flag of The Resistance.

You play as The Resistance as they embark on their deadliest missions to change the tide of war, deliver an EMP in the centre of the enemy territory. You’ll have your own fleet of mechs to command on a grid-based battlefield in real time. Moreover, you’ll use the environment as cover, exploiting enemy weaknesses and withstanding tactical assaults to be the victor. Regrouping at homebase allows you to upgrade your mechs and your pilots’ abilities, bringing the grit to your valor. Grit & Valor – 1949 will release this month on PC and on consoles soon.

KARMA: The Dark World by POLLARD STUDIO – 27th March 2025

Leap through criminal minds and assess their innocence as you investigate crime scenes in Karma: The Dark World. The game is a first person psychological horror set in an alternate timeline East Germany in 1984. You play as Daniel McGovern, a Roam Agent for Leviathan’s Thought Bureau. Leviathan rules with an iron fist with mass surveillance as a form of control.

Thanks to some groundbreaking technology, you jump into the minds of potential criminals as you face the horrors of people’s minds first hand. However, not everything is as it seems and the difference between the surreal and reality slowly becomes unrecognisable. Karma: The Dark World will release on PlayStation 5 and PC.

Blue Wednesday by Buff Studio – 27th March 2025

Originally released a couple of years ago, this sweet and musical narrative adventure is now making its way onto consoles. Blue Wednesday follows the life of Morris, a jazz pianist trying to make it as a musician. Through your exploration of the vibrant city of Evans, you’ll encounter an array of characters full of conversations and minigames to enjoy.

Rosewater by Grundislav Games – 27th March 2025

Rosewater is a point & click epic Western set in the alternate 19th century world of Lamplight City. You play as the writer Harley Leger as her venture to the west lands her a seemingly innocuous writing gig for a local paper in Rosewater. However, there’s more to the story as the job leads to a treasure hunt for a missing man’s fortune.

Harley and her ragtag posse journey across the west encountering bandits, eccentrics and more that’ll alter the story of your quest for fame and riches. Your dialogue options change the course of your journey, with over 60 characters to meet – all of which are voiced by a star-studded cast. Moreover, the game features fully rotoscoped animations, a soundtrack from the same composer of Lamplight City and inventory system that’ll cater to your playstyle. Rosewater will release on PC.

Post Trauma by Red Soul Games – 31st March 2025

Post Trauma follows Roman, a train conductor, who’s found himself trapped in a horrifying nightmare beyond reality. And it’s not London Euston on Christmas Eve. Roman must traipse through the horrors of his own fears and imagination to get back to his family, though it’s not all made up, as danger lurks in the darkest corners that threaten his life.

The developers at Red Soul Games have taken great inspiration from the classics in survival horror that we’ve seen over the past decades. Silent Hill is an apt comparison, but it’s fair to say how The Evil Within the game also looks. Post Trauma will feature fixed-camera angles, brutal and methodical combat, as well as an entrancing soundtrack to offer unimaginable horrors. Post Trauma will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
