10 Indie Games To Be Excited About During July 2025

It’s a bit hot at the moment, but the indie games coming out this Summer might be too hot. Last month, we had the opportunity to cover a deluge of indie games, mostly from the team effort spearheaded by Miles with our Steam Next Fest Lists, which you can check out in the following links [1] [2] [3]. Some of which are making their full release this month and have made the list.

If it’s a new spin on retro classics, a pulpy point and click or a scuzzy supermarket sim you’re after, then you’ve come to the right place. So, without further ado, here are 10 indie games to be excited about during July 2025:

Everdeep Aurora by Nautilus Games – 10th July 2025

Everdeep Aurora immediately struck me with its 16-bit/Gameboy era art style. Incredibly lush in detail, colourful and full of character, the game is a 2D adventure that sees you playing as Shell, a feline who’s on the search for her lost mother. Think of Shovel Knight Dig, meets retro Zelda, amongst others, as you drill downwards in a tile-based underground.

Discover the Everdeep, a hidden subterranean world brimming with characters to meet, quests to discover and puzzles to beat. Always love a good modern twist on something retro, especially games akin to the old school Zeldas, so you can expect me to get lost in the depths. Everdeep Aurora will release on Nintendo Switch and PC.

Mycopunk by Pigeons at Play – 10th July 2025

Mycopunk looks like it’s capturing the Earth Defence Force, Helldivers crowd with a blistering co-op shooter. Join the New Atlas Hazard Crew, a group of ragtag robots with unique gadgets to exterminate a fungal menace that’s plaguing the galaxy. Featuring, what the Steam Page calls, a hypercustomisable loadout for your weapons and equipment, utilising a one-of-a-kind grid-based upgrade system to create a bonkers sci-fi weapon.

Create an endless number of synergies, explore planets full of side missions and tear creatures to pieces in frenetic first-person shooting gameplay. Be wary, though; any limbs you shoot off can be used as a weapon against you. Mycopunk crash-lands on PC.

NIGHT OF THE CONSUMERS by GERMFOOD – 11th July 2025

The hell of a Sunday supermarket trip for the weekly food shop is ubiquitous. However, those Sunday trips are only one circle, and like Dantes Inferno Night of the Consumers comes from somewhere far deeper. Stack shelves, mop up puke and maintain shop standards and handle the consumer requests at breakneck speed.

Invoking horror from the mundane in first person, the game looks to be an anxiety-inducing thrill ride with grungey PSX-style graphics. Are you ready for a clean-up in aisle 3? Night of the Consumers will release on PC.

The Drifter by Powerhoof – 17th July 2025

Point and Click Adventures aren’t quite my bag; it’s an era that just passed me by, but a Powerhoof Point and Click?! Say less, in fact, say nothing, because the dev team and their games are never lacking in style and exciting takes on gameplay. The Drifter is a pulpy 2D adventure that sees Mick drifting from job to job before witnessing a murder. Subsequently framed and brought to the brink of death because of it.

Mick is compelled to get to the bottom of it, as his past comes back to haunt him from the other side. Powerhoof has paid attention to how this plays with unique twin-stick controls and fast-paced scenarios to play through. The Drifter will release on PC.

Back to the Dawn by Metal Head Games – 18th July 2025

Back to the Dawn has nearly finished its Early Access sentence and will be out on bail this month. I’ve kept social media tabs on this game for a good few years, absolutely delighted by every update showcasing the game’s progression. The game is an in-depth prison break RPG where you’ll choose between two protagonists.

Both of which have similar stories as they’re framed and set in prison. Using their unique skills from their professions, you’ll make connections, do favours and try to keep your nose clean, all the while trying to make it out alive. Featuring an open growth character system that lets you lean into how you want to play and develop skills in that direction, a huge colourful cast of characters and creative ways to aid your escape, Back to the Dawn looks to be the prison break game we’ve all been wanting. The game’s 1.0 will release on PC.

The King Is Watching by Hypnohead – 21st July 2025

King for a day? Or King for a game? The King is Watching is a roguelite kingdom builder that sees you constructing your formidable town to keep out those who want to claim it. Make tough decisions between prioritising resources and training your army to defend, or trying and do both in a run-based framework. No run is the same, with events differing per run, challenging you and forcing you to think on your feet.

It’s not easy running a kingdom, so managing all your resources, appeasing your townsfolk and building efficient defences is key to staying in power. The King is Watching will release on PC.

Hell Clock by Rogue Snail – 22nd July 2025

Hell Clock is a gritty ARPG roguelike inspired by Brazil’s War of Canudos. Set in the 19th Century, Canudos became a refuge for thousands when its people defied the New Republic, leaving 25,000 people dead. You play as Pajeú, a warrior fighting to rescue the soul of his fallen mentor, The Consuelor. With each foray, time warps, and your power grows as you face the dark forces.

The combat looks chaotic as you charge through enemies with your knife, sidearm and righteous abilities. With power-ups creating exciting combinations to face Brazil’s dark past, present and future, Hell Clock is shaping up to be a thought-provoking and stellar ARPG. The game will release on PC.

Misc. A Tiny Tale by Tinyware Games – 22nd July 2025

Meet two new platforming mascots in Misc. A Tiny Tale. You play as Buddy and Bag Boy, two heroes made out of junk, on a mission to spread joy across their miniature world. After a mysterious explosion leaves villages in disrepair with golden cogs and trash raining from the sky, Buddy and Bag Boy are compelled to collect, clean, and repair the world around them.

Uncover the source of the explosion, recycle rubbish you find and collect from the endearing robots you meet in nostalgic 3D platforming goodness. Misc. A Tiny Tale will release on Nintendo Switch and PC.

Wheel World by Messhof – 23rd July 2025

Previously titled Ghost Bike, Wheel World is a free-roaming cycling game that sees you racing elite teams, tricking out your wheels, all in the name of ancient cycling spirits. You play as Kat, a rider chosen by said spirits to perform a ritual that’ll bring the world back from the brink.

With an extensive level of customisation for your bike, a colourful world to cycle in and find rare parts and a cool mystery to unravel related to the spirits left behind in the world, Wheel World looks to be an awesome departure for Nidhogg 1&2 developers, Messhof. Wheel World will release on PlayStation, Xbox and PC.

Eat The Rich by Maccima Games – 23rd July 2025

Eat the Rich isn’t just a sentiment I can get behind, but now it’s a social deception party game. Think of a mix of Mario Party meets Among Us, whereby you play a bunch of minigames with a group of 6-10, vote out the competition, and you deceive your way to fame and fortune.

You play as a group of billionaires, forced into fighting each other for their lives as their unbridled greed collapsed the economy. Compete in minigames, beat the snot out of each other to gain an edge and socially elevate yourselves with in-game voice and text chat. Eat the Rich will release on PC.
