[HARDWARE REVIEW] Antank S3 Max Nintendo Switch 2 Dock – Dockin’ell

Ok yeah I’m reviewing a dock for the Switch 2. Look, there isn’t going to be an awful lot to say about this particular product. I received the dock, I plugged it in, it worked flawlessly and I carried on with my gaming as if nothing was all that different. It’s a product that works and whilst it doesn’t particular fill a gap in the needs of your gaming day to day, it may just be a want.

I say this because as you can see from the images, this particular dock does something Nintendon’t, and that’s pull the cover of the dock off entirely and ensure that your Switch 2 is on display at all times. It’s something I honestly thought Nintendo themselves would have done for their new console. Alas, it’s up to third parties to take the idea and make it more visually interesting than what came with the actual system.

And it’s seamless. The colours match your Joy-Con 2’s (currently, anyway) and it sits rather proudly boasting a still rather expensive console atop it. It doesn’t get in the way of the system at all and looks about as sleek as you would want a dock like this to look. It adds exponentially to the overall sheen of the Switch 2 and if you wanted a dock that showed off that gorgeous screen rather than hide it away, you could do much worse than take on this particular dock.

Because the system is on full display with this dock, they’ve added a sneaky little button on the back which allows you to choose between docked and handheld mode, so it also works as a pretty fetching stand if were to take it on the road. Why you’d play it in ‘handheld’ mode whilst it’s still attached to your TV, god only knows, but if you want to unplug the HDMI and use the dock purely as a stand, hell, you’ve at least got the option to do so.

You’re not losing power or any ports, either. With a 100W max power option, a HDMI 2.1 output at 4K 120Hz, two USB 3.0 ports and a USB-C port, everything you already have plugged into your Switch 2 can fit here with little fuss, and I would argue it’s far better for cable management as it’s all plugged in at the back, rather than on the sides also. It’s certainly tidied up my display a tad.

So if you were looking for a new option for your Switch 2 dock, it’s difficult to look past this thing. It doesn’t take anything away from the Switch 2 experience, adds a much cleaner look to the overall ‘Switch 2’ appearance and tidies up some possible cable issues. It sits nice and firm on a unit thanks to the non slip pads underneath and frankly, is just more appealing than what came with the Switch 2.

I’m still baffled as to why Nintendo didn’t go down this route themselves.
