Death Stranding 2: On The Beach – Release Date, Special Editions And More
Given how bizarre a concept that the first one was, would it surprise anyone that the launch around Death Stranding 2: On The Beach was going to be anything but a little extra? No, of course it wouldn’t. Following on from the events on Death Stranding, which I couldn’t recap in enough words here, Kojima is back with more oddness than you can shake an Odradek at. Here’s the latest trailer for On The Beach:
The Release Date
As you can see in the text above, before you watch the video, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach releases on the 26th of June this year. The italic I feel is justified there because, and I can’t be the only one, it seems very close an annoucement in March. Whilst it has been a while since announcement, the release date seems a little bit… sooner than we’ve come to expect from Kojima. Absolutely not complaining, mind.
The Editions
As we move closer to an all-digital catalogue, it probably won’t surprise anyone that there’s a digital-only bonus with early access two days before the physical launch (24th June). There’s a standard boxed edition… and then there’s this beauty:

Looks nice, doesn’t it? Here’s a rundown of what’s in there:
- Full Game Digital Download
- Collector’s Box
- 48-hour Early Access to the Game
- 15” Magellan Man Statue
- 3” Dollman Figurine
- Art Cards
- Letter from Hideo Kojima
- In-game Items
- Machine Gun (MP Bullets) LV1 (EARLY UNLOCK)
- Battle Skeleton: Gold [Lv1, Lv2, Lv3]
- Boost Skeleton: Gold [Lv1, Lv2, Lv3]
- Bokka Skeleton: Gold [Lv1, Lv2, Lv3]
- Patch 70: Quokka
- Patch 71: Chiral Feline
- Patch 72: Why Me?
- Pre-Order Bonus
- Custom Hologram: Quokka (EARLY UNLOCK)
- Battle Skeleton: Silver [Lv1, Lv2, Lv3]
- Boost Skeleton: Silver [Lv1, Lv2, Lv3]
- Bokka Skeleton: Silver [Lv1, Lv2, Lv3]
All sounds very nice, but there’s something lacking that irks me (and more, if you look at the response on Twitter): the lack of not only a steelbook, but an actual copy of the game on physical media. Why are we still doing this? Expecting players to drop £230 RRP on something deluxe and offering only a code? We buy collector’s editions of the games, otherwise why not just call this “merchandise with a digital copy included” instead?
Anyway, preorders start from 17th March 2025.
The Concerts
One of the more beautiful aspects of Death Stranding has been both its soundtracks and its score. This is where they’re playing:

- Nov 22, 2025 – Los Angeles
- Nov 28, 2025 – Shanghai
- Nov 30, 2025 – Bangkok
- Dec 2, 2025 – Singapore
- Dec 6, 2025 – Seoul
- Dec 13, 2025 – Newark
- Jan 15, 2026 – Berlin
- Jan 17, 2026 – Paris
- Jan 19, 2026 – Milan

- Feb 23, 2026 – Yokohama
- Feb 28, 2026 – Osaka
- Mar 7, 2026 – Austin
- Mar 9, 2026 – Boston
- Mar 26, 2026 – Montreal
- Mar 28, 2026 – Toronto
If you’d like to experience the beauty of Forssell’s score in person, ticket information is here and available from the 12th March 2025.
The Timepiece
It wouldn’t be a Kojima game without something weird in it, and given that time (or “timefall”) was a big deal, a watch collaboration seems oddly fitting. Partnered with “heritage horologists” Hamilton, this limited edition piece is modelled on the one that definitely-not-Solid-Snake-jabbing character Neil wears.

It’d be fair to say that Death Stranding 2: On The Beach looks as odd and divisive as… well, as the first one was back on its release in 2019. Personally, I love the first one but will accept it’s a strange vehicle. I am a big MGS/Kojima fan though, so I am as all-in on this as I am for the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake shortly after in August. Let’s hope it’s a bit more accessible this time around.
