The Silent Hill Transmission event gave us an extended look at Bloober Team's Silent Hill 2 remake and a confirmed release date.

The second installment of the Silent Hill Transmission showcases has unveiled some of the fog surrounding Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2. Alongside a release date trailer, we were treated to an almost fourteen minute lengthy deep dive into the gameplay, visuals and story beats. From the iconic suffocating fog to the body horror abominations James Sunderland must survive, there was plenty to see.

Are you ready to delve into the mind-melding, haunting world of Silent Hill 2? It’s been a long 23 years since the PlayStation 2 masterpiece was set forth to psychologically haunt audiences everywhere, so here’s hoping its fantastic story can be as impactful now as it was then. The night time lighting and reflections have certainly improved somewhat, haven’t they?

Gameplay wise, we’ve been comparing it (favourably) considerably to The Last of Us, owing to chunky, weighty melee strikes and the over-the-shoulder gunplay. Avoidance of combat altogether still seems to be the priority, pleasingly, and the signature fog looks to be appropriately thick, blinding and deafening. All good signs, indeed.

Silent Hill 2 will be releasing on October 8th for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.

“In my restless dreams, I see that town… Silent Hill”. Only five months until we venture into the fog again.
