Atlus Share More Details From Their Brand New RPG Metaphor: ReFantazio

Metaphor: ReFantazio is a brand new RPG from the ATLUS team that brought you Persona 3, 4 and 5. The game is a stark departure from the high school melodrama meets monster-battler that ATLUS has been notorious for, but that’s not to say the team’s signature flare isn’t there. Far from it even, as the footage we saw during the announcement at Summer Game Fest was oozing with style.

The game takes place in the United Kingdom of Euchronia after the assassination of the king sparks an election for the throne, that anyone can participate in. Your character will be running in this magical election as you travel the world, garnering support and building bonds with your party that can influence your character’s archetype.

Featuring a mix of real-time and turn-based combat and party customisation, we finally got to see more of the high fantasy RPG thanks to the recent gameplay trailer during The Game Awards.

Afterwards, ATLUS showed off a behind-the-scenes look at Metaphor: ReFantazio during a live stream in Japan. The live stream was titled ‘Creator’s Voice – Metaphor ReFantazio’ in which Director, Katsura Hasino – Character Designer, Shigenori Soejima and Composer, Shoji Meguro all went deeper into the game’s world, the battle system, the use of magic, music inspirations and the overall narrative that pertain to the events in the game.

Metaphor: ReFantazio has a release window of Fall 2024 and we here at Finger Guns cannot wait to delve into it.
