12 Indie Games To Be Excited About During June 2025
Hello everyone, this month is huge for a variety of reasons. Of course, we’ve got a few handfuls of indie games, but this’ll be the first month where some of these titles will also release on the Nintendo Switch 2. Not to mention, we’re in the Summer of games with Summer Games Fest, so I fully expect this list to be behind on releases in a week.
Last month, we scored big and teared up along the way in Despelote, did some real police work in The Precinct, and even got lost in dungeon building then dungeon crawling in Into the Restless Ruins. But as we enjoyed the harvest that May brought, June is on the horizon, where we’ve got some long-awaited heavy-hitters, as well as some more football that’ll potentially make you cry for other reasons this time around.
So, without further ado, here’s Finger Guns’ list of indie games to be excited about during June 2025:
DELTARUNE by Toby Fox – 4th June 2025
Toby Fox’s seminal debut, Undertale, moved the needle on what indie games could be going forward. A tall order to create a sequel to something so influential, but after half a decade of singular chapters being released, the final chapters and full game are finally here. DELTARUNE acts as a parallel story to Undertale, featuring new main characters to fall in love with.
With the same addictive combat that sees you fighting or sparing your enemies in bullet-dodging battles, expressive pixel-animation by Temmie and even some hidden bosses that’ll make you wish you were still in the overworld. DELTARUNE will release on Nintendo Switch, Switch 2!!, PlayStation and PC/Mac.
Parallel Experiment by Eleven Puzzles – 5th June 2025
Parallel Experiment is a co-op-only high-stakes escape room. You and another player become two detectives following the trail of the Cryptic Killer. That is, until you both become part of his twisted experiments that you’ll have to escape from. Inspired by noir films and sporting a comic book style, you and your partner will have separate pieces to your own puzzles and will have to coordinate in life-or-death situations to survive the Cryptic Killers trials.
With over 80 puzzles to solve, dynamic conversations with characters that respond differently, depending on who you play as, as well as unique features to bother each other in those stressful moments you’ll be caught up in, the Parallel Experiment is an exciting entry in the co-op escape room genre. The game will release on PC.
Dragon Is Dead by Team Suneat – 7th June 2025
Dragon Is Dead has been in Early Access for a while now, but it finally has a 1.0 release this month. It’s a hack-and-slash platformer that I wouldn’t blame you for thinking it had any relation to the Blasphemous series or The Last Faith. Seperating it from its peers, though, is its roguelite sensibilities of creating builds to take on the last of the Dark Dragons, and leader, Guernian.
Discover artefacts and defeat demons to create new legendary weapons on your quest, where you can learn synergies that’ll fit your playstyle. On top of that, there are also skill trees that differ between your choice of weaponry, so the possibilities to hack and slash are plentiful. Dragon Is Dead will hit its 1.0 update on PC.
Forgotlings by Throughline Games – 12th June 2025
Forgotlings is a cinematic action adventure about a magical land of forgotten sentient objects. With warring tribes and objects looking for purpose, you’ll explore all that it has to offer. You are Fig, captain of a sentient ship, as he travels the world uniting objects to fight against a mysterious threat that challenges their existence.
Take on bandits head-on or with stealth tactics, befriend or challenge tribes to a game of INA (the world’s favourite pastime), and get lost in the semi-open metroidvania-style world. Featuring a full voice cast and thousands of hand-drawn animations, Forgotlings appears to be one not to forget about. The game will release on PC.
The Alters by 11 bit Studios – 13th June 2025
The Alters is a distinct blend of survival, base-building and adventure in a sci-fi world. You play as the sole survivor of a dangerous space expedition, Jan Dolski. During his time surviving, he learns to create alternate versions of himself in an attempt to escape from the life-threatening planet he’s stuck on.
Alternate versions really means alternate, with every version having their own distinct personality traits, desires and basic needs. Will you lead with empathy at the cost of your survival? Or use them as tools to ensure your safety, and be at dangerous odds with yourselves. The Alters will release on PlayStation, Xbox and PC.
Lost in Random: The Eternal Die by Stormteller Games – 17th June 2025
A small departure from the first Lost in Random, The Eternal Die swaps out its original action-adventure framework for something more fast paced and roguelite. It is still set in the world of Random, so that dark fantasy, almost Grimm fairytale aesthetic, is still there to be eerily whimsical. However, you’re now rolling the dice as Queen Aleksandra, the once great ruler, on a journey for vengeance and redemption.
With real-time action and tactical combat blending together, alongside a card system to change the tide in battle, Lost in Random: The Eternal Die looks to be raising the stakes of its prequel. Featuring over 30 unique enemy types, four biomes to venture through and 100 elemental relics, all showcasing distinct playstyles, it looks like this could be a roguelite worth rolling a die on. The game will release on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC.
Date Everything! by Sassy Chap Games – 17th June 2025
After losing your job to AI, you’re homebound and begrudging to take a step outside while you recover from your feelings. Your feelings may do more than recover though as a strange gift is left for you by a friend – a magical pair of glasses known as ‘dateviators’. The dateviators transform your home into a household meet-cute as ordinary objects in all your rooms become datable people.
With 100 people to meet, all fully voiced-acted, you can create friendships and break hearts with a toaster, coat rack or even a hoover, all of which have three possible endings to experience. It’s a delightfully strange concept and one that’s ambitious in its delivery. Date Everything! will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC.
Crown Gambit by WILD WITS – 18th June 2025
Political unrest, a fight for the throne, and mystical powers from the shadows corrupting the medieval kingdom of Meodred. You play as three paladins as they pledge allegiance to noble family and make tough decisions that’ll define the realm’s destiny. Picking your allies wisely and navigating through rivalries will foil conspiracies to your benefit.
With deckbuilding combat that makes up the action of Crown Gambit, you’ll refine your cards, wield ancient abilities and be a dominant force in your allegiance’s succession. Inspired by Celtic and Breton folklore, and full of eldritch monstrosities, Crown Gambit’s use of expressionistic handrawn art and haunting soundtrack will fill the boots of any dark fantasy fanatic. Crown Gambit will release on PC.
REMATCH by Sloclap – 19th June 2025
Making a splash at last year’s Game Awards, Rematch shot up to being one of my most anticipated releases. As someone not equipped to talk footy, I can at least talk video games, and Rematch has proved to be a perfect marriage of both, or so says the shocking hours I’ve already lost to it during the Beta.
It has this incredibly simple framework of arcade-y online PVP kick-off action, with controls that are quick to pick up but hard to master. How developer Sloclap have mastered improvisational kung-fu with Sifu, to now creating an intuitive and accessible football game with Rematch is wizardry. Be careful with this one when it releases, you’ll be playing as if there’s unlimited extra time past your bedtime, and that’s all the footy puns I’ve got for you. Rematch will release on PlayStation, Xbox and PC.
Outrider Mako by Asamado Games – 23rd June 2025
If you ever wondered what Spirited Away would look like with a postal service, then look no further than Outrider Mako. You play as the titular Mako, who has fallen into the Mayoi World where gods reside. Stumbling into the Bumon Delivery Centre, you’re tasked with delivering packages and claiming spirit energy to make it back home.
The only thing is, the owner of Bumon is a literal monster, so who knows what their true intentions are? Outrider Mako is a 2D top-down action game, that sees you evading the monoke, learning their attacks and jumping on them to defeat them, all whilst exploring a mysterious and dangerous world. With a bunch of gadgets to protect you against the Gods and divine blessings to equip special buffs, Outrider Mako looks to deliver something quite exciting. The game will release on PC.
Shuffle Tactics by Club Sandwich – 24th June 2025
If a developer cites Final Fantasy Tactics and Slay the Spire as an inspiration for their game, then in theory, we should be onto a winner. Shuffle Tactics is a roguelike deckbuilder tactical RPG set in the Kingdom of Asteria. You are to defend Asteria from the corruption of the Glimmer Curse and hopefully defeat the evil King Ogma in the process.
Create synergies with your deck of cards, obtain powerful relics and pick your sidekick wisely, to be the driving force against evil. Developing a bond with your sidekick will build out your deck even more, creating unique builds for you to harness. Featuring 3 heroes, 10 sidekicks, 27 enemies, 10 bosses, 6 regions, 300 hero cards, 150 sidekick cards and hundreds of relics, it’ll be hard to have the same run twice. Shuffle Tactics will release on PC.
Ruffy and the Riverside by Zockrates Laboratories – 26th June 2025
The first thing that caught my attention with Ruffy and the Riverside was the art style that jumps off the page. It’s great to have a new mascot platformer adopt the Paper Mario style whilst doing something new and inventive. The game gives Ruffy the magical power of SWAP, where you can Copy & Paste the wonderful world around you to create new textures around you.
Turn ice into lava, waterfalls into vines, and so much more that your imagination can come up with, as you’re on a journey to defeat the mischievous villain, Groll, from destroying the world. With a range of 2D and 3D levels to explore, find collectibles and solve puzzles in, Ruffy and the Riverside looks to be an exciting switch up from the platforming formula. The game will release on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC.
