Sad news as layoffs reported over at Volition

By

It seems we’re writing about layoffs and studio closures with alarming regularity which of course makes us all so sad. The latest company currently undergoing a wave of layoffs is Volition, According to a report from Kotaku

30 people are losing their jobs including general manager Dan Cermak. Sources claim that poor sales of Agents of Mayhem was the catalyst for the layoffs. Even though public sales data for AoM has yet to be made public, early indications from sources like Steamspy doesn’t paint a particularly pretty picture. We actually quite liked Agents of Mayhem here at Finger Guns Tower, you can see our review here

Volition where a bit of a gem in their heyday with the Saints Row Series and the Red Faction games which were both critical and commercial success. Once part of  THQ before they filed for bankruptcy and then collapsed in 2012. Publisher Deep Silver saved Volition when the THQ assets were auctioned off and released Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell and Agents of Mayhem, both of which failed to live up to the success of the previous games.

Finger Guns wish the best of luck to those employees affected.
