Castle Kong Launches With $5,000 Bounty
Castle Kong, a homage to the classic Nintendo arcade game Donkey Kong, is released by Drowning Monkeys Games on PC Steam on June 4th 2020 followed on Nintendo Switch on July 4th 2020. The game will be available with a 33% discount – $10.04/€8.70/£8.03 on both platforms for a limited time (normal price $14.99/€12.99/£11.99).
Drowning Monkeys have set up a competition – the first person to stream a complete run of the game, reaching the Kill Screen, will win $5000. There’s also smaller prizes for the top 9 high scores registered with the developers until September 5th. The full rules can be found here.
“Castle Kong to the vast majority on initial inspection will look exactly like an original presentation lacking certain finesse and sophistication of a technology-led processor hungry title which is exactly our aim. We wanted to create a game that looked, felt and played like an arcade classic of bygone days, a truly heartfelt homage to a classic, like Donkey Kong. Offering both a challenge and having an appeal that makes the player want to play just a little bit more each time they load up, whether it be for five minutes or a few hours….. Castle Kong fits perfectly. Complete the game, reach the kill screen and you could be the big cash prize winner!”Josh Chudnovsky – Drowning Monkeys Games

The Padre is back in “One Shell Straight To Hell”
You’d be forgiven for not knowing what “The Padre” is. A survival horror adventure that shared a whole lot with Alone In The Dark, The Padre was a perfectly passable game. The wise talking, pop culture knowing titular Padre is back for second bite of the cherry in “One Shell Straight To Hell”. A whole new genre – now a twin stick shooter this time – but with the same voxel art work, this looks like it could be the redemption for the series as developers Shotgun with Glitters and publisher FEARDEMIC (part of Bloober Team) take another stab with the character.
“One Shell Straight to Hell and The Padre have been a large part of what we have been working at over the past twelve months. Not only do we think that the game itself will be one of the more successful chapters in the Feardemic story, but the protagonist “Padre Alexander” also represents a multitude of opportunities for the company over the coming years. We look forward to working with Shotgun with Glitters on building a strong and durable franchise.”Scott Millard, Managing Director at FEARDEMIC

Double Fine Presents & Boneloaf Split On Gang Beasts Future
In a blog post by Boneloaf, the Gang Beasts developers have announced that they’re taking their mad-cap brawler independent and they’ll be self publishing moving forward;
We love Double Fine and they have been really fantastic to us. What Tim and his company built is pretty wonderful, but with Double Fine Presents winding down due to Double Fine’s acquisition by Xbox Game Studios last year, we think it is a good time for Boneloaf to stand on its own… legs and publish Gang Beasts ourselves. Anyway, that’s the news about Boneloaf and Double Fine. What about Gang Beasts? Currently we’re testing build 1.13, the next release. Build 1.13 is made with Unity 2019.3 and includes a modified version of the wheel stage with support for online game modes and a series of optimisations and fixes for UI, audio, costumes, gameplay, and achievements.
A lot of people had been wondering what would happen to those games published by Double Fine Presents after they were bought by Microsoft and this is the first news to come out of that new relationship.
The good news is that Boneloaf are working on more content for Gang Beasts which will be released onto Steam Beta Soon followed by the console versions.
