Gazillion have been immediately shut down and Marvel Heroes will be switched off this weekend.
It was already a rather bitter pill to swallow, but rumours circulating today have moved the Marvel Heroes saga into even more devastating territory.
Imran Khan over at Game Informer is reporting that rumors have been doing the rounds today detailing how Marvel Heroes will shut down this weekend, rather than the end of the year as previously reported by developers Gazillion, who have also been entirely shut down, with all team members out of a job immediately.
From the official Marvel Heroes Discord;
“I’m super sad to communicate to all of you that Marvel Heroes ex-developer Winterthur just told us that Marvel Heroes Omega servers will close before the announced date. The new date is 11/24, that’s two days for now.”
If you’ve made any in-game purchases on PS4 or Xbox One it looks like you’re out of luck too, as all refund requests have so far been refused.
Senior Engineer of Gazillion, Andrew Hair had this to say on Twitter;
“I know a lot of people are upset and wanting refunds for their purchases in @MarvelHeroes, but please keep in mind the developers were not paid out PTO, severance, and our medical insurance is ending in 8 days.”
To lose your job just before the holiday season must be a devastating blow to all the staff. We had a terrific time with Marvel Heroes Omega when it launched on PS4, as it coincided with our own launch, and we thank Gazillion for helping us get off the ground. This is a terrible day and if true, we send our very best to everyone.
