J.J. Abrams to write and direct Star Wars Episode 9

The Force Awakens director to return to the franchise for the 9th installment. 

StarWars.com have confirmed today that The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams will return to the franchise for Episode 9, after previous director Colin Trevorrow departed the film.


Abrams will co-write the third installment in the new trilogy with Chris Terrio, and will be produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Abrams, Bad Robot and Lucasfilm.
