However, in May Apple shut down their AR/VR studies saying that they were not interested anymore. LIARS!
Well, maybe. A rumour has emerged from MacRumours that Apple will be teaming up with Valve to produce AR headsets. In 2017 Apple also teamed up with Valve to produce VR headsets for MacOS, but that didn’t amount to anything. Apple, it seems, are going full force with the AR gambit.
Apple reportedly has partnered with US game developer Valve to develop AR head-mounted display devices, which may be released in the second half of 2020 at the earliest, with Taiwan’s ODMs Quanta Computer and Pegatron said to handle the assembly job, according to industry sources.
All this is just rumour and speculation, of course. But with Google, Microsoft and now Apple all working on AR headsets, it seems it could be the future.
