PlayStation 4 Firmware Update 7.00 is due this week.

A few small enhancements but Android gets to join the Remote Play party?

Well, well. An update coming to PS4 that’s actually somewhat useful for a small portion of the audience? Huzzah1

7.00 has been in beta for a little while now and it’s finally ready to roll out in full this week. It’s not the shiniest update, but it adds some rather neat little additions that may benefit your experience. Maybe.

So what’s new? Well, party functionality is getting a few additions. First up, Party capacity gets doubled from eight to sixteen players with Sony promising improved connectivity and additional audio quality benefits.

Remote Play is also coming to Android phones! Android 5.0 or higher users will be able to stream PS4 games via an upcoming PS4 Remote Play App from the Google Play Store. For iOS users, a couple of improvements are incoming, including the ability to display the on-screen controller at all times. Thought at this point if you’re not hooking up your DS4 we need to have a long conversation.

There’s no official date just yet, but we know it’s coming this week. Keep an eye on our socials to see when it’s live!
