Just when you thought we wouldn’t be doing another event round up in 2018, along comes Xbox’s X018 live fan event. With Sony announcing that they’re not holding a PSX event in 2018, ending a 5 year streak, and with Nintendo unlikely to have another Direct this year after their Smash Bros focused event last week, all eyes now turned to Xbox, Microsoft and their X018 event.

What did we expect from X018? Well, we aleady knew we’d be getting a fresh look at some of Microsoft’s existing first party offerings like Sea of Thieves, Forza Horizon 4 and Minecraft but these were likely to be joined by some unreleased titles like Crackdown 3 (Or Crackdown 3: Single Player?) and Capy’s Below. We also knew that some of Microsoft’s marketing partners would be joining them on stage, including the team behind Metro Exodus. There had be a number of unsubstantiated rumours doing the rounds before the event but very little with any merit. Sure enough though, Microsoft did spring a surprise or 2 at their X018 fan event.

Without further ado, here’s a round up of all the Xbox announcements and trailers from the Microsoft X018 event;

The X018 event kicked off with a live action sizzle trailer featuring Tomb Raider, Fallout 76 and Shopping Trolleys among other stuff. After a little bit of crowd footage and some obligatory introductions from Major Nelson and company, we were treated to our first X018 trailer and announcement.

Player Unknown’s Battle Grounds (or PUBG to you and I) is landing on Xbox Games Pass in 2 days. New subscribers will also got the first month of Xbox Games Pass for $1. This deal will run right through the holidays.

Jonathon Che, the co-creator of Bioshock, has a new game coming out and it looks like part Borderlands, part Rick and Morty. The game is called Void Bastards and it’ll be hitting Xbox Games Pass when it launches.

Terry Crews is back to advertise Crackdown 3 at X018 which, *act surprised* , will be on Xbox Games Pass day 1. Another announcement – Crackdown 3 will have 5 vs 5 multiplayer. Using the powah of the cloud, the destruction in Crackdown 3 looks incredible. The game is launching on Feb 15th, 2019.

Battlefield V looks best on Xbox One X. Yup. Did that really deserve it’s own X018 trailer? Probably not. But the game sure is purrrdy.

Tangled. Check. Big Hero 6. Check. Pirates of the Caribbean. Check. Winnie The Pooh!?! YUS! Here’s a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts 3 from X018 which confirms a 100 Acre Woods area.

Final Fantasy VII, IX, X, X-2 and XII will be coming to Xbox next year. They’ll be joining all 3 Final Fantasy XIII games which are releasing on Xbox One via backwards compatibility.

Sea of Thieves is getting a new PVP expansion called “The Arena”.

The anime fighter Jump Force received a little more footage at X018 showing some of the Dragon Ball Z Super Sian transformations. The game launches on Feb 15th, 2019 and it was confirmed that SSGSS Vegeta and Golden Frieza are included.

We were promised something new for State of Decay 2 at X018 and that came in the form of a trailer showing he Zedhunter update which is launching in November. New weapons including a cross bow are included. There’s another update planned for early 2019 too.

Just Cause 4 made an appearance at X018 and while most of this trailer looked like it as non-gameplay, CGI and scripted, as a taster, it certainly worked.

A nice gesture here. Announced at X018, Xbox are giving $5 to 4 game related charities for each image tweeted with the hashtag #GiveWithXbox  showing what it means for people to “game together”. There’s a maximum of $1M to give away to these charities so get tweeting. Nice work Microsoft.

Next up, we were provided with a full documentary/dev diary for Devil May Cry 5 explaining some of the Breakers and “The Void”, basically a training area. Mega Man’s arm is making it into the game, as is a weapon called the Pasta Breaker.

Announced at X018, there’s now 91 Million people playing Minecraft every month. There’s more expansions coming (on top of Minecraft Dungeons) the highlight of which is “Cat’s and Panda’s”. It’s exactly what it says on the tin.

Bomber Crew, Warface, Children of Morta, Minion Master, Day Z, Warframe, Strange Brigade, Deep Rock Galactic, Vermintide 2, Moonlighter, Wargroove, War Thunder, X-Morph Defence, Fortnite and a few more games are all allowing keyboard and mouse support on Xbox on November 14th.

Razer are working with Xbox to create a keyboard. More details will be shared at CES 2019 in January.

Fans of plastic statues and other gaming tat rejoice. Announced at X018, Metro Exodus is getting a “Spartan Collectors Edition”. Here’s the trailer for it.

The first expansion to Forza Horizon 4 is called Fortune Island. It comes with new weather events, the roughest off road terrain in any Horizon game and a tonne of switch back mountain trails. Also arriving are 5 of Kenny Block’s vehicles (2 are already available now with 3 more on the way).

Announced at X018, Inxile are joining the Xbox First Party Studio family. Inxile, lead by Brian Fargo, are most famous for their Wastland games. Smart move Microsoft.

The heavily rumoured purchase of Obsidian studios by Microsoft has also been confirmed.

And that’s you’re lot for X018. All in all a solid showing that’s demonstrating that Microsoft are certainly looking to the future with Xbox rather than righting the Xbox One.
