Microsoft presented us with a two-hour Inside Xbox as part of their Gamescom coverage, and apart from two mini documentaries shoe-horned in for some reason – let’s be honest, the PUBG minidoc had literally zero new information – there was a fair amount of news we can get into along with some shiny new trailers.
In no particular order then;
We got a look at the new Team Adventure competitive mode coming to Forza Horizon 4, which is still looking like the most beautiful creation in all of existence.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is coming out of Early Access and launching ‘1.0’ on September 4th, 2018 as a full product release. Cool. It’s also getting a shiny controller for those who are into that kind of thing.
Here’s that 10-minute PUBG doc from the event, which is primarily just Major Nelson walking around an office.
Talking of controllers, there are new camo and shadow options coming to Xbox Design Lab!
An Xbox Game Pass Mobile App is now available on Android, which will allow you to search, browse and download games to your system. iOS users will have to sign up on this form because of reasons. We’ve got the app. It’s cool.
There was a big ol’ info drop for Rare’s mighty Sea of Thieves, namely the third major content update The Forsaken Shores. It’s coming September 19th and will take players to The Devil’s Roar, to encounter volcanoes, geysers and earthquakes. Head to an island and dig up your copy of the game to check it out.
Guess what’s coming to Xbox Game Pass? Only Halo: The Master Chief Collection! Yus! The collection is finally hitting the service on September 1st and will feature Xbox One X upgrades, faster loading times, custom playlists and a bunch of goodness that’ll make this rather brilliant collection even better.
Oh, and there was a 10-minute doc about the Halo arcade machine, Fireteam Raven. Enjoy.
We got a quick nose at Ori and The Will of the Wisps, which was rather nice. They gave us a look at the Spirit Trials feature. Replayable race sequences are spread through the game which will allow you to compete with other players for in-game rewards and place on the online leaderboards. Nifty.
There was an extensive look at Undead Labs State of Decay 2, with a nose at their brand new Daybreak Pack. This new content includes a siege defence mode with a permadeath mechanic. Yikes. The Daybreak Pack is coming on September 12th.
Fortunately, they also interluded these news dumps with some trailers including the gameplay reveal for Devil May Cry 5!
Devil May Cry 5
Hitman 2 The World of Assassination Reveal
Phew! They certainly crammed those two hours but hot damn, there’s an awful lot to look forward to if you’re an Xbox gamer.
