Back in 2014, back on our old PlayStation centric website PSGamer we proclaimed Futurlab’s Velocity 2X the Game of the Year. We meant it too, dammit. The pitch-perfect gameplay, the fantastic writing and the glorious visuals made it stand out head and shoulders over everything else, and Sean and Rossko could not stop gushing about it all year and continues to sing its praises even to this day. Rossko even bought a PSVita just so he could play it on the go. True story.
So you can imagine how excited we are that those legends at Curve Digital will be bringing Velocity 2X to Nintendo Switch in August.
Curve Digital Product Manager Cédrine Décoret;
“As big fans of both arcade shmups and action-platformers, Velocity 2X has always held a special place in our hearts. Playing it on the Switch’s pristine, handheld screen, it feels better than ever.”
Oh my, this is exciting. Three years ago we interviewed Futurlab’s James Marsden all about the game, you can have a listen of it right here.
In other Switch/Curve Digital news, they’ll also be bringing Perfectly Paranormal’s wacky Manual Samuel is coming to Switch this summer, it’s crazy and hilarious and worth a look once it lands on Nintendo’s hybrid.
