Yes, you heard me.
We’ve talked about it amongst ourselves for years. Instead of a yearly FIFA iteration, why not just update the damn thing with the rosters and the like every new edition? We have a base FIFA title and it just becomes a portal for future updates. It’s something we’ve discussed certainly with our friends and whilst we don’t think it’s going to happen anytime soon (if ever), EA Sports have suddenly taken a bold move in suggesting it may not be the impossible dream after all.
EA Sports have today confirmed that their FIFA World Cup game – a series which normally gets its own standalone release – will be coming to FIFA 18 by means of a free update at the end of May for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC.
The update will include the full tournament along with officially licensed content including badges, kits, stadiums (all twelve of them used in this summers tournament) along with the match ball and of course, the almighty World Cup trophy. There’s also online tournaments planned along with a custom World Cup.
This is quite the big deal, so we’re excited to jump in and see how authentic this free update is going to be. Free, ya hear!
The free(!) update will be coming to FIFA 18 on May 29th. Get in!
