Esports at the Paris Olympics?

As EA often say, It’s in the game. And it really could be come the Paris Olympics. The Paris Olympic committee are actually going to consider esports for the 2024 Olympics. That’s according to the committee’s co-president, Tony Estanguet.  Talks have been scheduled  with the International Olympic committee with sports representatives to play lots of video games  “to better understand what the process is and why it is such a success.”

last years’ Rio games featured a showcase with exhibition matches and the like with eight teams competing in games such as Super Smash Brothers.

“We have to look at it because we can’t say, ‘It’s not us. It’s not about Olympics.’ The youth, yes they are interested in esport and this kind of thing. Let’s look at it. Let’s meet them. Let’s try if we can find some bridges.”

Could this ever happen? I mean the Olympics  has always been about man and woman pushing the human body to the limit, to see how fast they can run, how long they can run, how high they can jump. Not what combo count you can get. Still would be a lot more exciting to watch than the shot put, or the steeplechase for that matter.

The final decision, will be made in 2020 after the Tokyo Olympics (which, if you think about seem the natural place for esports to make its debut)No matter If esports gets accepted into the 2024 olympics, what games would you like to see included?
